Finance/Accounting Internships

Purpose:

Abbott hires students majoring in Finance or Accounting into the internship program based on business need.  The purpose of the internship is to provide meaningful work experience to students with proven academic performance and leadership potential.  Abbott strongly considers interns that continuously excel for their Financial Professional Development Program.

Abbotts' Financial Professional Development Program (FPDP) is a two-year rotational program with four or five separate work assignments.  The diverse assignments cover areas such as: Cost Accounting, General Accounting and Financial Planning and Analysis.  Assignments are also carried out in a variety of work environments that include; corporate and division headquarters, as well as plants and other operating environments.

Internship Requirements:

-     Accounting or Finance majors must have completed 12 semester hours of Accounting by graduation in the following coursework:  Intro I, Intro II, Cost Accounting and Intermediate I.
-     Overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
-     Accounting and Finance GPA of 3.0 or higher
-     Accounting and Finance grades "B" or higher
-     Transcripts (unofficial) are required to interview
-     Exceptionally demonstrated interpersonal skills
-     Proven leadership skills
-     Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
-     Strong Personal Computer skills with a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and presentation graphics software

Internship Duties and Responsibilities:
-     Support consolidation of financial plans
-     Manage and analyze financial data
-     Assist in preparation of Abbott's internal and external financial statements
-     Financial analysis of special projects
-     Consolidation of performance/entity planning data
